  • Harvard Mortality Study:
    MS Access data collection tool on the mortality status of patients on ARVs procured by Harvard University study undergone at McCords Hospital in Durban (Kwazulu-Natal).
  • Yale MDR-TB Study:
    Data collection on the growing epidemic of MDR-TB & XMDR-TB procured by Yale University study undergone at Church of Scotland Hospital in Tugela Ferry (Kwazulu-Natal).
  • ORACTA Study:
    TDH developed a customised MS-Access based database for an Elizabeth Glaser Paediatric AIDS Foundation funded research project involving the University of KZN and McCords, St Marys and Mseleni Hospitals. The ORACTA (Operations Research on AIDS Care and Treatment in Africa) project commenced in March 2006 and the data capture and analysis is currently on going.
  • PMTCT Study:
    A customised MS-Access database for the PMTCT study at the Cato Manor Clinic procured for the clinic through Professor Anna Coutsoudis.
  • Oxford LTNP Study:
    A customised MS-Access database for the Oxford University study of Long Term Non Progressors study was based at McCords Hospital in Durban (Kwazulu-Natal).

HIV/AIDS SYSTEMS

  • ARV Patient Management System
    TDH developed an ARV patient management system called Esther with a strong monitoring and evaluation component. It was initially built initially for the KZN Department of Health and is continually being developed in alignment with the ever changing disease treatment context. This application is designed to serve the requirements of the most resource-filled to resource-poor setting. It is developed in C# 2.0 and Sql Server 2005.
    The system manages patients on ART and has TB, PMTCT, VCT and other modules. It reports on a wide variety of indicators including the KZN DOH Weekly Status Report, DORA indicators, charts and graphs. The system includes alerts as to number of patients due on a particular day for which area etc.
  • HPP Elispot Analysis
    The HPP database comes in both an Access version and a web-based (ASP.NET 1.1 and Sql Server 2005) solution. This database is used to record the elispot data of the HIV genome through confirmation, optimals, finemapping, Viral Load, CD4 and HLA. It has powerful reporting & querying features that help to analyse the data. The reporting outputs to excel for further analysis. The system is being used at the Doris Duke Medical Research Centre (at the University of Natal’s Nelson Mandela School of Medicine) in Kwazulu-Natal.
  • Zimbabwe Parirenyatwa and Harare Hospitals:
    Patient management database for Opportunistic infections Clinic at the two largest hospitals in Zimababwe. This is a customised MS-Access database that tracks and records patients on ART as well as a specific Kaposi Sarcoma section.
  • KZN DOH – Tertiary ID Database:
    Patient data collection at a tertiary level for patients on ART.
  • South African Clothing Trade Workers Union VCT & Training Databases:
    MS-Access databases to manage SACTWU VCT and HIV Training Programmes.
